Strenght Training 1

What did you learn about "lifelong wellness" from taking this activity class?

By taking this class, I was able to learn a lot about lifelong wellness and how important it is to take care of your body. With each of the weight lifting movements we learned, form was key. Without proper form, muscles and joints could be damaged as they were exposed to pressure when people exercised without proper form. I also learned how important it is to eat healthy. We had to keep food logs during the course to track what we ate and drank each day. I noticed that on days were I ate healthier with more fruits and vegetables I felt better than on the days I got fast food.

How would you apply this information to your life?

To apply this information in my life, I plan to continue eating healthy and workout out with proper lifting techniques. The last thing I want is to take out my back or ruin my joints because I can't work out correctly. I love working out, especially since I've been able to see myself get stronger since I started working out. I also realize I have to eat healthy the rest of my life. While I can get away with eating quite a bit of junk food due to my metabolism now, I won't always be able to. That's why I need to develop the habit of eating healthy now, so I don't eat unhealthy as I get older and get overweight. Getting over weight later in life is the last thing I want to do. So I'm determined to eat healthy now so it's easier to do so later.

What is your intention to continue to exercise in your life and why?

In addition to weight lifting, I want to exercise at least once everyday for the rest of my life. I'm involved now in a lot of activites such as hockey, racquettball, and hiking, that can only be accomplished by someone who regurlarly exercises and is in good health. These are activities that I have enjoyed my whole life, and I don't want to have to give them up as I get older. But I'll have to if I stop staying active. That's why I am determined to exercise everyday, whether it's hockey, racquettball, weight lifting, or hiking.  These are activities I love and want to enjoy for years to come, so I'm going to keep physically active so that dream is a reality.

General ideas for improving this course?

I really enjoyed this course. The lifts we learned were very helpful. Most of them I didn't even know and have added them into my workouts. The only suggestion I really think would help improve this course is to have the class time a bit longer. I know I never really felt too sore after class, so making the class time and the workouts longer would help students gain the most muscle and strenght out of the class possible. Other than that, there are no changes this class needs to make. It was very fun and taught me a lot about the importance of having a healthy lifestyle.
